Plans and billing
LingoVae has four plans. You pick the smallest one that covers what you need, and you can change anytime — upgrades take effect immediately, downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
This page covers the plan ladder, what each tier unlocks, how billing actually flows through Shopify, and how upgrade/downgrade timing works.
For what happens to your work when you change tiers, see hibernate and reactivate.
For monthly transformation limits and add-on packs, see transformations and add-ons.
The four plans
| Plan | Price | Built for |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Trying the app on a handful of products |
| Starter | $12.99 / mo (or $129 / yr) | Small stores styling one product at a time |
| Grow | $29.99 / mo (or $299 / yr) | Stores ready to scale styling across the catalog |
| Pro | $59.99 / mo (or $599 / yr) | Brands that need a custom voice and traffic routing |
Annual plans give you roughly 1.5 months free compared to paying monthly (about 12% off). You can switch between monthly and annual anytime; switching to annual applies the prorated credit immediately.

The narrative
Free is for trying out LingoVae on real products. You can style up to 10 products in total — not 10 per month, 10 ever. After that you’ll see an upgrade prompt. The 4 core styles are available, and you can browse the full catalog (you just can’t install Premium styles).
Starter removes the 10-product cap. You can style as many products as you want, one at a time. Still the 4 core styles only; no bulk, no schedules, no review queue.
Grow is the first “real workflow” tier. You get the full catalog (17+ styles, including Premium), bulk styling, the review queue with reviewer roles, schedules, and auto-styling on new product create. This is the tier where LingoVae stops being a per-product tool and becomes a catalog-wide engine.
Pro adds the things merchants who care about voice and conversion need: custom styles (write your own voice from scratch), campaigns (route different styles to different traffic sources), and full version history with restore-to-any-version.
How billing flows through Shopify
LingoVae uses Shopify Managed Pricing for every plan. This means:
- You’re charged by Shopify, not by LingoVae. The subscription is a line item on your Shopify bill.
- You manage payment methods in Shopify, not in LingoVae. Update your card under Shopify Settings → Billing.
- You see invoices in Shopify, not in LingoVae. Settings → Billing → Bills.
- You get prorated automatically when you change plans mid-cycle.
LingoVae doesn’t see your credit card or process payments. We get told by Shopify “this store is on Plan X as of Date Y.” Everything cascades from that fact.
Upgrading
Click Settings → Billing → Plans, pick the tier you want, click Switch to [plan]. Shopify shows you a confirmation screen with the new charge; approve it.
Upgrades take effect immediately. The new capabilities are available within seconds, and your transformation quota for the current month is upgraded too (any unused transformations carry over).
You’ll get a prorated charge for the rest of the current cycle on the new plan, minus credit for what you’ve already paid.
Downgrading
Same screen, pick a lower tier, click Switch to [plan].
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. This matters: you’ve paid for the cycle on the old plan, so you keep that plan’s features until the cycle ends. The new (lower) plan kicks in at midnight of your renewal date.
Before you confirm a downgrade, LingoVae shows you a downgrade impact screen:
- “247 styled products will move to Paused on May 30.” (because the new plan has a 10-product cap and you have 247 styled)
- “3 custom styles will be paused.” (because Pro→Grow removes the custom-styles capability)
- “1 active schedule will be paused on May 30.”
This is your chance to back out. Read hibernate and reactivate for what “paused” means — short version: nothing is deleted, everything reactivates on re-upgrade.
Cancelling a pending downgrade
A downgrade you’ve scheduled but not yet hit is cancellable. Until the effective date, go to Settings → Billing → Plans and click Cancel pending downgrade. Your plan stays where it was, no charge happens.
This is a one-click reversal. You don’t lose anything.
Pausing your subscription
Instead of cancelling, you can pause for 1, 2, or 3 months. Paused subscriptions don’t charge, but your store enters the paused state — everything paused, nothing deleted, ready to resume.
This is for seasonal merchants (“I sell pumpkins, I’m closed January through August”), summer breaks, or just keeping your work alive while you sort out finances. Pausing is on the same Plans page; pick a duration and confirm.
See pausing your subscription for the full mechanics, including what happens to your storefront during the pause.
Cancelling
You can uninstall LingoVae from Shopify Apps at any time. There’s no contract on any plan.
On uninstall, LingoVae gives you a choice:
- Keep my styled descriptions live. Your storefront keeps showing the styled versions. We retain the data so you can re-install later and pick up where you left off.
- Strip all styling and revert to originals. We remove every styled metafield from every product. Your storefront falls back to your original Shopify descriptions. Re-installing later lands you on a clean slate.
Either way, your account is fully recoverable for 9+ months. After that, the GDPR retention window expires and the data is purged.
Discount codes
If you have a discount code (from a partner, conference, or trial extension), enter it on the Plans page when you’re switching plans. Discounts apply to the next charge and any recurring charges they cover.
Discounts come in two forms:
- Permanent percentage off the plan price (e.g., “20% off forever”).
- Duration-limited (e.g., “50% off for the first 3 months”). These have a remaining-cycles counter; once it hits zero, the full price applies.
The Plans page shows what discount you have active and how many cycles remain.
Tax and currency
Shopify Managed Pricing handles tax and currency conversion. You’re billed in the currency of your Shopify store; tax is calculated based on your store’s address.
If your store changes country or currency in Shopify, the next charge reflects the change automatically.
What happens on a payment failure
If Shopify can’t charge your card:
- Shopify retries for a few days per their dunning policy.
- Meanwhile, LingoVae stays in a “payment pending” state — everything works normally.
- If Shopify gives up, your subscription frozes (it doesn’t downgrade or pause). The app shows a banner pointing you to Shopify Settings → Billing to update your payment method.
We don’t auto-downgrade you on a payment failure. The whole hibernate-don’t-destroy principle applies here too: failed payments don’t trigger data loss.
